1. Can you share a bit about your journey and what led you to become a Senior Technical Recruiter?
I started my career as an HR Executive at Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) from 2012 to 2014, where I gained experience in manpower planning, job postings, candidate sourcing, and onboarding, primarily for healthcare professionals like doctors, nurses, and technicians.
Later, I joined Timetronic Management Consultants Pvt. Ltd. as a Senior Executive in HR from 2017 to 2019. There, I expanded my expertise in IT recruitment, focusing on sourcing strategies, initial candidate screening, salary negotiations, and managing recruitment timelines effectively.
In June, 2021, I took on the role of Senior Technical Recruiter at CloudQ IT Services, specializing in end-to-end IT recruitment, handling both full-time and contract hiring. This included sourcing through job portals like Naukri, Monster, and LinkedIn, candidate screening, interview coordination, and onboarding.
My growth into a Senior Technical Recruiter was driven by diverse domain expertise, strong sourcing and relationship management skills, and consistent success in managing both IT and healthcare staffing needs.
2. What’s something about your personality or work style that you think has been key to your success?
Strong sourcing and relationship management skills.
3. When you’re not recruiting, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
During my free time, I love making headbands, dolls, and keychains using crochet. It’s such a relaxing and creative way to unwind. I also enjoy gardening—there’s something so rewarding about nurturing plants and watching them grow.
4. How do you start your day to ensure you stay productive and energized?
I start my day by reviewing job requirements and prioritizing tasks like sourcing, screening, and follow-ups to stay organized and meet hiring timelines. I check emails and messages for candidate responses, client updates, and interview schedules to ensure smooth communication. I also set daily targets for candidate shortlisting, calls, and interviews to maintain focus and productivity.
5. Are you more of a go-with-the-flow person, or do you like to plan everything out in advance?
While the recruitment process requires careful planning and coordination, I prefer to strike a balance. I plan critical tasks in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly, but I also stay flexible to make last-minute adjustments when needed, especially during hiring cycles.
6. If you had to describe your recruitment philosophy in just three words, what would they be?
Focus, sourcing quality profiles, effective communication.
7. What drives you to keep pushing forward, especially when things get challenging?
My passion for connecting the right talent with the right opportunities is a powerful motivator.
8. If you could work from anywhere, where would it be, and what would your ideal day look like?
I prefer working from my home office, as it allows me to avoid the challenges of commuting, such as bus schedules and traffic delays. The time saved can be effectively utilized for focusing on critical tasks, enhancing productivity, and maintaining a better work-life balance.
An ideal day starts with planning tasks, prioritizing open positions, and reviewing candidate pipelines. It involves active sourcing through job portals like Naukri, Monster, and LinkedIn, and reaching out to potential candidates, coordinating screenings and interviews, and focusing on relationship-building with clients and candidates. The day ends with follow-ups and reflecting on the day’s progress.
9. If you weren’t a Senior Technical Recruiter, what other career path might you have pursued?
If I weren’t a Recruiter, I would have pursued a career as a Mechanical Engineer. My interest in problem-solving, design, and innovation has always drawn me toward engineering. The prospect of working with complex systems, improving mechanical processes, and contributing to advancements in technology greatly appeals to me.
10. Who has been the biggest influence on your career, and what’s one key lesson you’ve learned from them?
It’s hard to pinpoint just one person because so many have influenced me throughout my career—managers, mentors, clients, team members, and even some candidates. Each has taught me something valuable.
11. After a long and intense day, what’s your favorite way to unwind and recharge?
I unwind by taking a peaceful walk, listening to calming music, or spending time with my loved ones. It’s all about finding that space to reset before jumping back into the next challenge.
12. If you could go back and give advice to your younger self when you first started in recruitment, what would it be?
Trust the process and be patient. Not every placement happens overnight, but building relationships and understanding the needs of both candidates and clients will always pay off. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek feedback—it’s all part of the growth.
