Meet Dhanush J B, Assistant Manager – Finance and Administration at CloudQ. With more than six years of experience in finance and administration, he holds an MBA in Banking and Finance from Alagappa University. His career began in October 2016 as a Sales Representative at Oppo Mobiles Pvt Ltd, and then in March, 2019, he joined CloudQ as an Account Executive and Admin, progressing to his current position as an Assistant Manager – Finance and Administration.
He specializes in budget optimization, strategic financial planning, and process streamlining. With a proactive leadership approach, he focuses on fostering teamwork and efficiency to contribute to organizational success.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing cricket and going on long drives, activities that help me to stay refreshed and maintain balance.
1. Can you share your journey and what inspired you to pursue a career in finance and administration?
Finance and administration have always intrigued me because they are crucial in driving a business’s success. I enjoy solving financial complexities and ensuring smooth operations. This combination of responsibility and strategic importance inspired me to pursue this career and continue contributing to organizational efficiency and growth.
2. What’s one key aspect of your expertise in finance or administration that most teams or clients might not know but should?
I specialize in optimizing budgets by reducing unnecessary costs and improving financial strategies. I also streamline processes to save time and resources while enhancing decision making. My approach combines cost reduction and efficiency, which have a tangible impact on financial management and overall organizational success.
3. What do you enjoy most about managing both the financial and administrative aspects of a business?
I enjoy balancing strategic planning, multitasking, and ensuring both financial management and administrative efficiency work together to drive growth and productivity, ultimately keeping the business running smoothly. The dynamic nature of this role allows me to make decisions that support long-term success, and seeing the impact of these efforts on the overall business is highly rewarding.
4. How do you structure your day to ensure optimal productivity and focus on both finance and administrative tasks?
I prioritize and structure my day by splitting both finance and administrative tasks based on their priority, time consumption, and impact on efficiency. By scheduling high-priority or time-sensitive tasks first, I ensure focus and productivity throughout the day. This approach allows me to effectively manage both areas, maintaining a balance that ensures consistent results while optimizing overall efficiency.
5. When facing challenges in finance or administration, do you prefer a proactive approach or reflective problem-solving strategy?
I adopt a proactive approach to prevent issues before they escalate while also applying reflective problem-solving to learn from past experiences and improve future decisions. This combination enables me to stay ahead of potential problems and leverage past insights, ensuring that I make better-informed, strategic decisions moving forward.

8. What aspect of your role as Assistant Manager energizes and motivates you the most?

I would choose Canada for its excellent work culture, business opportunities, and focus on financial growth. Its high quality of life also provides a perfect balance between professional achievements and personal well-being, making it an ideal place to work and grow.
11. What’s a non-work-related skill or hobby that you’re proud of, and how does it influence your professional approach in finance and administration?
Playing cricket teaches me teamwork, focus, and strategy under pressure, while driving enhances calmness and decision-making. Both hobbies complement my professional approach by improving time management, quick thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, which are vital in finance and administration.
12. How do you prefer to celebrate a successful project or achieving a major professional milestone?
I enjoy celebrating by relaxing with my team, reflecting on our achievements, and sharing the success. This not only helps recharge and appreciate the effort but also strengthens teamwork and prepares us for future goals with renewed enthusiasm.
13. If you weren’t an Assistant Manager in finance and administration, what other career path do you think you’d excel in?
If not in finance and administration, I would pursue a career as a software engineer. My analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail would suit this field, enabling me to thrive in creating efficient, innovative solutions.
14. Who has had the biggest impact on your career, and what’s the most valuable advice they’ve given you?
Mr. Yaser, our CEO, has greatly influenced my career by offering me growth opportunities. His advice, “Take initiative and always prioritize what’s best for the team and company,” inspires me to act proactively and focus on collective success, shaping my leadership style.
15. Do you have any evening routines or habits to unwind and reflect after a demanding day of managing financial and administrative tasks?
I relax by having tea with friends followed by a short outing. This helps me recharge, reflect on the day, and prepare mentally for the next challenges with a clear mind and positive energy.
16. What advice would you give to someone just starting in finance and administration who aspires to take on a leadership role?
Focus on self-improvement without comparing yourself to others. Build expertise, develop leadership qualities, and learn from every opportunity. Stay consistent and prioritize professional growth while maintaining integrity and a proactive mindset to excel in finance and administration.
