Hello, and welcome to another Metaverse post! Today, we’re talking about getting married in the Metaverse. Strap in, grab a frosty beverage, and read on!
Now, we know what you’re probably thinking: Why would anyone want to get married in the Metaverse? What the heck are people even thinking?
We have an answer! People have chosen to get married in the Metaverse so they can include friends and family members that can’t make the trip to attend a wedding because of various circumstances. Some people have also opened their weddings to the public and crashed servers along the way.
While Metaverse weddings aren’t (necessarily) cheaper than IRL weddings, they can provide the bride and groom some savings. After all, there won’t be 1k people there eating food.
Where the costs come in are pretty similar to an in-person event: venue, officiant, licenses, clothes. So, while you may not have to pay for food, you’ll probably need a good chunk of change to rent your venue.

We have to wonder if this is going to become a trend over the next few years. It’s rumored that the Metaverse will be a multi-billion-dollar asset by 2024. When you think about it, that’s not too far away.
In order to make a Metaverse wedding legal, it has to be done in tandem with an IRL signing of documents before a judge. So, while you can have a wedding 100% virtually, you’ll also need to sign papers with your actual hand.
Several other reasons to have a wedding in the Metaverse come to mind, too. Perhaps you’re an astronomer, and you want to get married in space with your favorite constellations in the sky behind you. Well, you couldn’t do that with a traditional wedding; you’d have to pull off some pretty amazing stuff to even make it look like your vision. With a Metaverse wedding, your imagination is your only limit.
Anyone else picturing their bride or groom riding in on a T-Rex? No? Just us? Okay then…
