Why We Switched to MailerLite

why we switched to mailerlite

Hello, good people of the internet! Welcome to another post. Today, we’ll be talking about MailerLite and why we made the switch to their service over the competition. If you’re in need of an email marketing service host, you’ll want to read the following. Enough chatter up here; let’s get into the meat and potatoes.

There are a metric ton of email marketing hosts out there. I’d list them all here, but that would make this post way too long, and I’d rather just talk about the features of one—MailerLite. There’s a lot to unpack, but the price has always been one of the most attractive features, so we’ll start there.

MailerLite has several tiers:

I’d hazard a guess that most businesses with under 1k employees will do just fine with either the free or lowest-price tier. We use it to send special updates and a monthly newsletter to our employees, and we use things like the auto-resend campaign function, putting us above the free tier but still on the lowest. It serves our purposes well and doesn’t break the bank.

As for building an email campaign, they have a super-simple setup for creation with the option to get a bit more complex if you’re familiar with HTML.

You start by selecting the type of campaign you want, and then you can drill down from there. We saved a couple of templates we can easily use or edit to give us a base for our newsletters. Then, once you get past this screen:

You get to play with the drag-and-drop editor. Not only can you just drag content blocks into your newsletter, you can also select from a drop down exactly what kind of content you want to add. They have options like social and sharing, RSS, survey and quiz, E-commerce, content (videos, images, and text), and others.

Then you simply drag it into your email and click to edit it. It’s really that easy.

Beyond the simplicity of the creation, they allow you to segment your list into different groups so you can send specific emails to specific people. For example, we have onshore, offshore, main, and corporate. This allows us to communicate quickly and easily with specific groups of individuals.

One thing I, personally, love is the ability to see who interacted with the email campaign and in what way. We’re able to see who opened an email, who it bounced back from, and which ones went undelivered. We can also see exactly what was clicked. It’s nice to be able to tell, at a glance, who was interested in what. It helps us create better content.

A huge step we took when we first signed up was to have our entire marketing team go through the MailerLite Academy.

Not only is the training free, it teaches the person moving through it everything they need to know to use MailerLite effectively and easily. You don’t truly need to get certified an expert, because the interface is so simple, but it sure doesn’t hurt to understand more about the tools you’re using.

Sporting powerful features for not a lot of money, MailerLite was the only choice we could’ve logically made. We tried other email marketing service providers, and we found the interface clunky, difficult to use, hard to understand, and buggy.

No. We’re not being paid for this post, there are no discount codes, and MailerLite doesn’t sponsor us in any way. We just love the service and want to spread the word, much like we do with all the tools we fall in love with using.

Thanks so much for reading! We hope you got some clarity from this post, and we also hope you stick around to read some of the other awesome content we’ve created over the years. There’s quite a bit of it. Until next time!
