Google has released a new guide on SEO link best practices, which covers advice on anchor text placement, writing effective anchor text, internal connections inside content, and external links from other websites. Link building is critical if you want to rank high, and more links usually equate to higher rankings, but those links also need to be relevant—they can’t just go anywhere. A study involving 200 websites revealed the kinds of links Google prefers, and the company recently produced a handbook on link-building best practices.

Here are some of the best practices for SEO Linking with explanations.

Crawlable Links

The main section is almost identical to the original archive, which is available to see on the Wayback Machine. Google can only scan HTML elements that include a href property, and most links in other forms will not be evaluated and retrieved by Google’s crawlers. Moreover, Google cannot differentiate URLs from components that do not have a href attribute or other labels that continue as links based on content events.

Positioning of Anchor text

Google said, “Anchor text (also known as link text) is the visible text of a link.” Anchor text is the visible text of a link that tells visitors, and Google, about the website it links to. Google gives instances of both excellent and awful written positioning.

Creating Anchor Text

Great anchor text, in Google’s view, is interesting, sensible, and relevant to the website it links to. It offers context for the connection and establishes readers’ expectations. Good and bad anchor text are instances of well and poorly-written anchor text.

Internal and External Hyperlinks

Google encourages both internal (page to page) and external (websites linking back to the page) links to help rank web pages. They emphasize the trust factor of links, how sites link to you, using the no follow for spammy links, and paid links. They also suggest focusing on anchor text for inside connections, which can help the two individuals and Google track down different pages on the site. Perusers should consider what assets on the site could help them figure out a given page. They also encourage users to interface out to outside destinations when it appears to be legit, and give a set to them about what they can anticipate.
